Freeway needs a home

This little cutie, named Freeway, is looking for a new home. The details from the couple who found her:
"She was just spayed, had a heart worm test (currently on heart and flea pills), rabies and distemper shots. She's great with kids (loves them and wants to clean their faces), great with other dogs. She is crated at night. She weighs about 40 pounds.
"I have been training her various commands to do things like 'hurry up go' means to go potty, and 'it's time to go to bed' and she runs into her crate. She knows to sit by the door if she has to go potty, and when you get a treat out you don't have to tell her to sit, she will just sit there and wait for the treat. She is learning 'no,' shake,' and 'down.'
"I could go on and on, she's just a great dog and I want her to go to someone I can keep in contact with or someone I know who will be good 'parents' for her. She's had a rough life already. She was pushed out the door either after having puppies, or during having puppies and was skin and bones when we found her by the freeway.
"The Humane Society said we could either take her home or let her go because they couldn't 'come and get her right now.' So we have had her ever since and it has been wonderful. I will miss her terribly but I know in my heart I did the right thing by keeping her and finding a good home for her."

Comments
Just for clarification:
The Humane Society runs on donations only and does not always have the manpower nor money to pick up animals--especially when they are healthy. You are ALWAYS free to take the animal to them and they will NEVER turn you away. They have a wonderful success rate in finding animals good homes. If you had to have the dog picked up right then, then you could have called the Animal Shelter and had an animal control officer pick up the dog. The shelter also has a great success rate in finding good homes for the animals brought to them and both orginazations have a thorough screening process for potential adopters--probably much more thorough than what you will do.
I do not think that it is necessary to make comments lacking real knowledge against organizations who are picking up the slack for so many irresponsible people. They are doing the best that they can with what they have to work with. Also, these organizations are most likely 2 big supporters of having a dog park in GR, therefore are probably behind the Grand Rapids Dog Park Entusiasts. Before posting a comment like that, you might want to think about who your audience may include.

If anyone has found a dog, we usually will post what is given to us... we don't edit their copy. As a group, the Grand Rapids Dog Park Enthusiasts is not affiliated with any group, but we appreciate support that comes from good organizations within the community like the Humane Society. One of the purposes of this website is to provide a place for anyone to express their views and opinions about dogs and dog parks in Grand Rapids.
