Worth Noting
Yesterday’s GR Press featured an article about city leash laws that mentions that the City Commission and the Parks and Rec department are exploring cost estimates to establish a dog park.

Yes I saw that and responded to Mr. Steffen with this message. I hope it was OK to "speak" for the group. If not, let me know.
Mr. Steffen,
Did I miss something here? Since becoming a Member of the Grand Rapids Dog Park Enthusiasts, I've become aware of the leash laws in the State of Michigan which the City of Grand Rapids abides by. So what is it that the Bite Prevention Committee is changing?
In regards to the "cost" of a dog park. We (our group) as you may or may not know is NOT looking for a park "of our own". We can easily use a park that is inactive and has a fence. The only cost that I see, would be signs indicating to the public, that at certain hours of the day - dogs would be off leash.
With all the money problems the city has right now - a new park just for dogs is not going to fly. I would be willing to bet that "we" would produce the signs for the city therefore no additional costs to you. Sounds like something our new Governor is proposing for the State. We can let her know we are doing our part!
Woof woof,
Ken Bryan
